Protecting Gold and Other Valuables

Hello, my name is Molly, and over the years, I have invested in a lot of gold. I loved the way it was increasing in value, and I found it to feel like a comfortable investment during times that I wasn't feeling confident about cash. However, I also have had to learn to protect my gold. This blog explores everything I learned about protecting gold and other valuables. I plan to write and gather posts on choosing safes, installing safes, learning about waterproof storage, creating locks, storing keys and more. If you have gold or other valuables, please feel free to explore my blog on protecting gold and other valuables.

4 Instances When You Need to Have Your Locks Changed

Good locks will keep intruders away from your business premises. But like anything else, locks wear down over time. So you'll need to change the locks when that happens. Doing this not only boosts security but also enhances the efficiency of your door operations.

In addition to buying quality locks, you will need to hire a locksmith to install them correctly. This article looks at four instances when lock replacement might be necessary. Read on.

1. When the Locks Are Rusted or Worn-Out

Locks are made of metal which can rust when exposed to moisture. If you notice your locks have patches of tarnished metal, you need to have them changed. That is because rusted locks are pretty easy to force or pick. In other words, they leave your business vulnerable to burglars.

Additionally, when your locks have dents or show other signs of wearing out, it is crucial to have them changed. Locks are only secure when they are sturdy. When they are dented, they become easy to break, which compromises your company's security.

2. When Your Business Has Been Recently Broken Into

If your business premise has been lately burglarised, then it is a sign that your lock system is not effective. If the locks were picked or broken, it is an indicator that they are not as sturdy as required. Therefore, to ensure that your business is secure, upgrading the locks after a burglary might be necessary.

Secondly, if you have been burglarised without the locks beings damaged, it is a sign that the intruders have your lock's key copy. In that case, you must call a locksmith right away to rekey the locks or change them altogether.

3. When You Lose Your Keys

Many people overlook the importance of replacing locks after misplacing the keys, more so if they have a spare one. But they fail to remember that the keys could end up in the wrong hands, endangering their employees and business assets. For that reason, you should change your locks when you lose keys to avoid falling prey to burglars.

4. When Upgrading Your Security System

At some point, you will need to upgrade your security system to keep up with the changing technology. One of the elements that you will need to update is your locking system. Get a locksmith to recommend and install the most secure modern locks.

Your locks are your first defence against intruders. For that reason, they should remain in good condition all the time. If you are in any of the situations above, contact a locksmith for lock replacement. They will recommend suitable locks and install them professionally.
